At least it wasn't raining LOL!!
Night before was cold and damp.... rain stopped by show time, but just not a pleasant weather night. This night the weather was better.... perhaps why the Here Comes Sunshine opener.... A well played first set, even if a very standard song selection. Jerry was very much "present" this evening. Second set came out like a beast... solid Bertha, then a great Good Lovin'>UJB>PITB run.... if only Bobby had a voice LOL!! Remember them showing a clip from early 70's during PITB, and thinking that Jerry was playing along as the clip seemed to sync up with the great jam and space leading into drumz..... Unfortunately, after solid post-drumz space, we were hit with Corrina.... While played well this night, it was/is not a good song....as with Easy Answers the night before, Jerry saved it... or at least made the non-vocal parts enjoyable. Attics was sweet, but alas it led to the so over played Throwin' Stones>NFA..... And while I enjoy Liberty, always felt it belonged in the first set ala Lazy River Road, rather than as an encore..... Long story short.... fun couple nights in the swamps of Jersey. Though both shows paled after drumz, with this being the far weaker post-drumz night.... So 4 stars for Jerry's playing..... but only 3 for the show because Corrina and Throwin' Stones killed the post-drumz segment. BTW, the swamps of Jersey were my home turf having grown up in beautiful Wyckoff, NJ until heading off to college, law school, and life in 1976..... Thankfully, my folks stayed there another 20 years [19 form my mom who died too young], so I always had a place to stay for Jersey and NY shows. Looking forward to Dead & Company in Charlotte on 6/28......

My Last Show - Not Bad for the Era
I remember being on the floor with my buddy and some other friends sat upstairs. Had just graduated college and was set to start grad school in the fall. Didn't know it at the time but this wound up being my last show. We had fun. And there were some strong flashes, like the UJB-Playin-Space stretch (despite Bobby's voice being spent). Generally speaking I think the new Garcia-Hunter tunes from the Vince era were pretty solid (So Many Roads, Days Between, Liberty, LRR) whereas everyone else in the band's was tough to stomach. I was never thrilled to hear Broken Arrow or Corrinna, for example. Jerry forgot to sing the first chorus to Ramble on Rose, leaving only Weir's harmony, but then seemed to rally back strong. Attics was sweet. Nice sounding SB - thank you!

Nineties Dead at its best: fun, inspiring, terrible, heavy, raw and hard to hear at times! Give it up for the killer Minglewood, have not heard this track in many years!
